EMD and building backlins to it

I was wondering how to build backlinks to a Exact match domain.
I have read that its is much more recommendable to build backlinks to inner pages, so how can I build backlinks anchored with my keyword without linking to the index?

If, for instance, I have the domain "boysgames.com" (I am using wordpress and my niche is flash games related) and want to rank that keyword.
My site would have the a couple of categories for the posts. Eg: "sport games" and "cars games"
How can I build backlinks anchored with "boys games" without linking to the index? Should I add a new category "boys games" and give my posts both categories (any category and "boys games") and build backlinks to "boys games"?

Well.. you can build links to your root page. There should be no problem at all doing that. I have started how ever straying away from EMD building. It works just as good to use branding domains and they work fine. There really is no "need" to use EMDs. If you want to use them that's fine and you can build links to the home page and the inner pages. If the key phrase you want to rank for is say "boys games" then here is how I would place my anchor text for that keyword, pointing the back links to the home page.

(One link per high authority site)
1. Boys Games That Are Fun
2. learn about boys games
3. BOYS GAMES THAT ARE FUN
4. Boys Games
5. http://boysgames.com
6. boysgames.com
7. Fun Boys Games Online
8. GET BOYS GAMES
9. easy boys games for fun
10. Fantastic Boys Games

So given those anchor text above, that would be 10 links pointing to you home page for the key phrase "boys games" from 10 different authority sites. Note: don't reuse any anchor text. Use a completely new anchor text per link you place. Even if it's just changing the upper case or lower case or all caps. It does matter so you won't get hit with an anchor text penalty. That is how I would do anchor text linking for a specific keyword I want to rank for.

Usually you'll have backlinks to your main page from your inner page right? So if you build a lot of link juice to your inner pages, the juices will also flow to the main page. Just remember to not over-optimized it by using the same keyword of boys games, as it already 'embeded' in you domain name.
