About a year ago I set up a white hat website with about 50 articles, nothing fancy at all. Have not touched it since and it's bringing in about 1000 pageviews and $10-60 from Amazon every month.
I have been monitoring the analytics from time to time and never seen anything like this, not on any of my sites. Usually you get spam traffic from low-tier countries like china or some pacific islands, right? Well last week I had two days with 200 new users from the US, it's all direct traffic and to one post only.
The weird thing is that some are directly to the post, while most are landing on: https://example.com/this-is-the-keyword/?embedded_webview=true
I'm guessing it's some kind of link somewhere people are clicking but I have no idea what to make of it. I have not done any off-page SEO or link building, not even set up any social profiles.
Is this spam bad for my site? I have been getting fewer organic hits the past week as well and I don't think it's because some of the latest algo updates. Is this someone targeting me with negative SEO?
