Hi

if i take some .edu email ids, and mail them my link, it will sit as backlink on the .edu domains email client. So will it be considered as a backlink?

I don't think so, I don't think big G crawls emails or the internet would be a whole lot bigger hah. This will not work but I like the creativity.

Thanks for the assistance, I am new to SEO, thats why i got such a weird doubt

NO. SE's can't crawl email's. Before i read a WSO the author said we can have our website URL in E-mail signature and SE's consider it as a PR7 backink bla bla........
But the fact is SE's won't.

Emails operate on a whole other level and yes, Google does not rate them. I'll just add another reply just to confirm this.

Although a very nice outside the box thinking. I commend you!

edit: Posted on the same time but still 3 replies, should be an "objective" answer now. :)

I'm not sure about that. I sent to my friend an email with a pin code. We both use online gmails.
Several hours later I start getting random adsense ads on different sites about buying pins.
I never searched for pin codes (that would be an odd thing to do, right?). Never visited a site about pins or pin codes or mentioned it otherwise.. and still I get these ads. Strange?
Seems like google scans the emails and uses this info to get user's interests. But to what extent?

so adsense looks for gmail too, thats great news, experts please help us more!

Ya they do scan your emails for keywords, just like they scan websites for keywords and target them. But they don't crawl emails or index them for the internet so it wouldn't matter.
