You have to believe it that mailchimp, icontact, constantcontact etc are world popular email marketing platforms. Besides the are expensive also. You may try GlobalEmailPro. As far as I know they provide cost effective and reliable email marketing service.

The only crucial thing is the leads and how to figure out to get those... Then what software you will use for the marketing doesnt really matter as long as it's somewhat decent. Focus on getting a strong emailinglist and you will be able to capitalize on it quite easy

It's all about how you hit the lead. I'd recommend not sending the offer till later in the conversation

Consider using Mandrill from MailChimp, it's free and offers more emails.
It offers less tracking options, but hey - you get more emails

a: they have a free plan which will give you the opportunity to try things out.
b: They have many ways of importing data
