Email Marketing

Hey I started email marketing a week ago and I think I've come across a few stumbling blocks. I feel my strategy is very sound in that what I'm offering for the value to my target is dead on since I've received some positive responses in both price and quality. My problem is I must be hitting the spam folder or my emails just aren't getting through because of the amount of emails I send out. I've been using gmail to send out the emails and I use blind carbon copy so they don't see how many recipients there are in the emails I send out.

My email is basically a proposal, it gives them the impression that I've spoken to someone in their office before(a bit black hat perhaps) informs them that I've reviewed something that they currently have for their business and that I have an even better version of it custom made for them and at a very reasonable price. They get a chance to see how good it is and then they can decide if all the factors are in place for them to buy or not. I'm trying to get a 1% success rate for the amount of emails I send out. Even a .5% success rate would be incredible.

I'll be sincere. I'm struggling a great deal, I've had almost a year without making much money, and getting a job is not possible for me for at least 6 more months. I've never dealt with such a difficult situation ever, so I'm reaching out. I need some help in this to get around it. My list is targeted to half a million specific professionals of a certain field that can afford my services and of the few that I seem to have reached some of them appear to want it.

With regard to the spam folder thing, I would guess that a number of the email/list management companies (aweber etc) have tools that will help you determine if your email message looks "spammy" enough to end up in the SPAM folder. You could test out your email this way.

Adding words like money, half off, cheap, discount etc. Will not get past most email hosts, almost always end up in spam. Try to keep it short and sweet, outlink it to your website. I would target even less amount of people. (start with trying to convert a group of 100 or 1000) this is where testing comes into play.

Test different emails on 100 people at a time, find what converts the best. Get up to a 5 or even 6% convert ratio, than target the big numbers.

Look for interspire, u'll find a nulled version on the web, it have an option that tell you if the email is looking spammy in google, yahoo, hotmail... good luck

I had a feeling words like that would tip off the spam filters. Yea the email I send is clean as is the subject title. The only thing I'm worried about when it comes to the content of the email is my name, phone number and the link that I send them which shows them a sample of what they can have because those 3 things can't be changed in any email that I send. Would those 3 things leave me in the spam folder after a couple hundred emails or most likely not?

I tested to see if sending 1 email to another account would end up in the spam folder but thankfully it has not. I've been sending the same email thousands of times with lots of bounce back it's good to see that I still inbox if i send it individually, however when I send 1 email 20-40 simultaneously it does go to spam.

The thing is I am getting results, people are responding positively. I'm getting phone calls and I think next week I'm primed to get 1 buyer. This is from the first few emails, my first 50 emails I sent in the beginning(5 days ago). So I really want to ensure I'm inboxing as much as possible. If I can send 500 emails a day and inbox 80% of them I'm golden.

There's a lot of parameters to consider for inboxing.

First, you need to understand that each recipient server environnement is different and has its own parameters (settings, security rules, etc..).

Send the same email to a list of hotmail recipients or Yahoo or any other and you will have different results.

One can blacklist you because of too many emails sent in a too short time from the same ip... Another one can put your emails in spam because of filtering rules in spamassassin or any other filter... Another one can refuse to relay anything because of another reason.


After that you need to know about the other part. The sending one.

If you want to use gmail for sending emails, you also need to know how it's working because it has its own settings. (security rules, etc..).

There's a ton of parameters. You need to make tests to find the best solution for you and your recipient lists.
