Is anyone using e-mail marketing for signing up SEO clients? Would love to hear about your strategy.

Email conversions suck man the responses are very low...i have tried it and ended getting some harassing replies :(

e-mail marketing or spamming random people? if you can get your hands on some high quality list from people that might need this it might work, but spamming to get clients ... you're a few years too late to that party.

Why not give solo ads a try... Just make sure to choose someone who has a relevant list and has a ton of positive reviews...

I delete most of those and I know few people that would fall for that. You would need to be very creative or maybe offer something in advance like an easy change they could apply to get better results.

It's all about the list - if it's remotely crappy then it won't do. If it's excellent you may still get good results nowadays.

Its not helpful now a days. Better you should try to post your website on some classified sites and forums.

Man, I don't think this would work honestly. The second I get any kind of SEO e-mail I just auto trash it. Sometimes though I look it over and am like..."How the f**k did this guy make it to my INBOX, yet in my e-mail marketing I always hit peoples SPAM folder?!" haha.

Maybe if you got super lucky and get a VERY targeted list and name dropped that a guy named Mike told you to e-mail them lol. So yea, chances on that a zilch basically.

I skip most (if not all) emails like this and I believe that I am not the only one, so, be more creative and
well target set.

If you are going to be using a personalised email for each business then it could work, but your years too late to the generic spam SEO emails.

Hi,

Email marketing is very tough. These days you have to have a relevant list and need to make sure they inbox. If they don't inbox, your pretty much out of luck. Next, there are email SPAM rules you have to follow or you can get into a lot of trouble.

email marketing might get very low conversion, but if your list is long enough... god knows the possibilities.

I get so many of those emails everyday its ridiculous. del del del del

Mailchimp has some good data. Search for "email marketing benchmarks" on google to find the article (I can't post links here).

In my experience though, the technology company I work for has a list of about 700k active newsletter subscribers and we get ~10% open rate and a ~3% click through rate. Even though this is small it still leads to thousands of dollars in profits. YMMV.

If you're asking if you should be doing it, the answer is obvious, of course you should. Email marketing is essential to anyone's overall marketing strategy. Follow the CANSPAM rules and remember to use a double opt in and you shouldn't run into any problems.

It works for me and i will say m getting good conversion via email. It Depends how you target.

Your How, Why and What should be clear before you get in touch with them.

(Spam) e-mail marketing is effective but it depends on the approach you take, also learn from the ones that end up in your spam inbox too - to know what "not" to do.

Let's say if you go and say " buy our SEO today and receive 50% off for life " - it "might" work but I bet it won't be any way impressive. Instead, your email can look like this:

Hey {website name},

I have just read your article {article title} and it totally rocked. I have learned a lot of new things. However, I happened to find that you have some errors on your website that may be preventing you from ranking better.

Here's a personal video that I made detailing the errors and how to fix them:
{video link} this must be a personal video, not for the mass

Hope it helps it. If I can help in anyway, please let me know.

You are awesome, once again.

{your name}

The site owner will feel grateful that you have just helped him for free, and naturally be more open to you. That's when you try to pitch him little by little. Patience is key, build rapport.
