Hi, we run an adult newsletter, being adult content we can't use Mailchimp, Amazon or any of the usual suspects. We have to run it through our own SMTP. To keep from getting blacklisted due to send speeds, we have to throttle the sends. Meaning it can take 1 - 2 months to send out a newsletter, by which time of course it's not really news any more. When it gets over 90k we usually have to ditch a load of subscribers to keep the sending time to a vaguely reasonable level.
We did find 1 mail sending company that did adult stuff but they were crazy expensive and didn't like our content anyway, a bit square.
If we didn't have to keep ditching subscribers we'd easily have a mailing list of over a million by now. Trying to send a million newsletters the way we are currently doing it would probably take an entire year.
We thought about segmenting the list, maybe sending different segments from different domains / servers. But our fanbase is such that they are likely to sign up for all newsletters, meaning we'd just be multiplying the problem.
Just wondered if anyone had any ideas of things we could do to get around this?
