Hi,

My website will be ready very soon which will begin selling electronics. I checked my competitors and it seems the top 1 competitor is creating a lot of Web 2.0 pages, each with spun, good quality articles linking to his site.
Then some smaller quality links that point to the Web 2.0's. Also noticed some profile links going to the main site.

My question is.. Should I do the same? The articles just write about ex. which TV should you choose for your home etc.
And a question about tools: What's the cheapest way to get myself these forum profile links, comments etc. And also best tool to check competitor backlinks?

If it's working for him, it should work for you in a few short months or almost immediately depending your domain PA/DA and sites in top 10 in my view. I am guessing he has to have more than just web 2.0 and profile links as his strategy or it's easy to rank for the terms you are after.

Among what you've already mentioned I'll definitely, check/re-check..
- check his pa/da at, moz.com as I am sure you know is killer for this research
- domain age
- authority sites linking --> I like using semrush.com

I'll use guest post, web 2.0, press releases, senuke spun content linking pyramid, press release and
do plenty of social shares facebook/google + on a monthly basis. Definitely, key will be good amount of consistent
links on a monthly basis, should work in reasonable time.

He's ranking for general keywords like 'washing machines' and 'computers' as I live in quite a small country (about 1 milllion people). Thanks a lot for your tips, he does though have some authority links as they are one of the biggest companies around here. They have around 12,2k backlinks (most of them from a price compare site).

I'll set up a decent social profile and maybe get some social signals from AddMeFast as starting? And anything I should consider when ranking a new domain? It's 2-3 months old.
