Hi, I'm the IT person for our small family business. I've been thinking about starting to mine bitcoins as part of our operations since we're already splitting the electricity bills. I'd like to keep the mining part a bit under wraps but plan to share any profits that come from it with my family.
I'm just wondering if they might catch on to the mining activities. Also, I'm trying to figure out how much the electricity might cost us. We have about 4 servers, but they're not super powerful.

It is hard mining BTC without being undetected. Bitcoin mining uses significant processing power, which translates to increased electricity consumption and heat generation. Profitability is low with moderate hardware.

Your family will probably notice the increase in electricity costs.

They will DEFINITELY notice, especially if you’re running proper rigs that actually have a decent ROI. Doing these things without consent of the people you’re sharing the bill with is unethical in my opinion and wont end well.
