eHost affiliate program?

hey guys,

So i usually promote hostgator and decided to try out with ehost. The problem is, people can sign up for around 4.19 cents and get a free domain. The website promises you $110 per sign up(doesnt sound right mathematically) The most people can spend for a 3 year plan is $98. After talking to the affiliate associate, he was all over the place and didnt really make sense.

I wasnt receiving any commissions for my sign ups. The affiliate company told me " tell your viewers to close the window at checkout and it will offer a bigger discount" so i did. Than I felt something really fishy. So i read up on their terms and agreements and found this

"

• If a Referred Customer has received a popup with a discounted offer, while leaving our site during their purchase, we will NOT pay commissions on purchase."

I confronted the affiliate company but he reassured me " this are old terms and will be updated soon"

Anyone else deal with this company? I think im gonna bail because its my 3rd day and i already feel uncomfortable.

It's nothing new about big hosting providers scamming its affiliates out of referrals.

Never a fan of affiliate programs. Why don't you setup your own hosting reseller service since you are able to market?

Go for a reseller package that offers END USER support. This is very important as you won't want to be spending time servicing technical issue. The rest are just gimmick and secondary. Check around BST here on this site or webhostingtalk you should be able to find something.

The key is to focus on your local market and provide excellent face to face support service. This is the biggest difference compared to other online hosting company. A face to face meeting to understand the client need will help in closing the sales much better than being totally online base.

well i can confirm that ehost affiliate program is a scam. I had 3 confirmed sign ups with no commissions. Scam alert. Also thanks for the advice, i will call today and look into this~!
