Egg Timer - It F&*king Works!!!

A member recommended a cure for procrastinating was to use an egg timer and it f%^king works.

It was recommended to set for one hour then, break, then hour, then break and it has kept me focusing to day...

It definitely works. If you guys are looking for good ways to get more done, check out the Eben Pagen program called Wake Up Productive. Good stuff. There are some free videos floating around, maybe on YouTube.

I personally use my iPhone as a timer and it does really help. I say "I will study for 1 hour, no questions asked." and I do

It took a long time to realise that the difference between those weirdo's that always seemed to breeze deadlines etc. and the rest of us is that they raced through work.
Instead of putting themselves in the position of simply recognising that some task, 'had to be done' and leaving it at that, open to how long it may take, they say things like:
'I'm going to do this inside 20 minutes'.

That then makes you think differently about the task, your mind now knows you're looking for a way of completing it in 20 minutes and you try and work it so that you finish within the time limit.

Taking brakes so that your brain remains responsive is also key (every 45 minutes give your body a break from your std. work position, every 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs give your brain a break).

So I guess you timer thing is combining these two 'insider's productivity tips' in one

If being this structured is too much like being supervised to some of you then I do recommend simply setting crazy goal times for all your tasks... race yourself. It's fun when you manage to beat your set time, and you're getting stuff done quicker leaving more time for real fun...
