Education Site - How do I really get the right audience?

Ok, so I have a site where you can do quite a bit, it offers a free and paid version of a hosted site for educational and business educational purposes.

The difference between the two is really not much, but where educational is for, well.. educational institutions, business educational is for businesses seeking to train employees via distance education.

My site offers tons of features and I am trying to figure out how to promote it correctly and freely. Right now my budget is nill and I am trying to get my company off to the right start.

I need to know how to target people who need a way to do these things. But before I continue, it's not JUST for educational institutions or businesses. It's for anyone who wants to teach something. Be that something an online course for coding, or teaching people how to play Dungeons and Dragons.

So what would you do in my situation?

- $0.00 budget
- Great site
- Basic Meta Description and Keywords
- Some attention from a university
- Some attention from McGraw Hill
- No facebook likes other than one from my girlfriend
- 34 Twitter followers, none of whom have visited my numerous tweets with my link using bit.ly
- WordPress Base with SEO tools involved that I have somewhat of an understanding of
- One partner - Doctorates in business who is backing the project but has no time to market, as he is also a professor
- No friends

How would you get this off to the right start?

If you want to see my site, I welcome the oppertunity. I am also in desperate need of a damn good web developer who would be willing to work with me in exchange for profit share. (in other words free but only free for as long as we don't have money kind of free).

Identify who your target traffic is - who can use the content on your site? To me, any type of education is about learning something.

Go out to http://ubersuggest.org/ and type in something like 'learn python' or more general like 'learn online', hit suggest and see what pops up for ideas.

My target traffic is educators, educational institutions, businesses, companies, and individuals.

Use Q&A services for your audience. They always work! E.g. answers.yahoo.com. If your site is really good it will get the traffic increase soon

Okay then find forums for teachers and that niche then add post with a clever link to your website or if you have the money
buy media space on the forum and if the forum is not to large it will not cost to much at all.

You have been noticed by major players in the industry like McGraw Hill because keeping that in mind I would try
kickstarter or something and raise money for this project to light a fire under it. With real investment money you could
really provide enough services to boost the project.

With an education site, make sure your articles and content is ridiculously good and informative, and well written...and factual. Educational traffic in general consist of smart people. If your site smells of simpleton...seeya.

Answer questions on yahoo answers with your link, sure it's time consuming but it's free and a great source of traffic! Just make sure you don't spam your link.
