Anyone have any tips on beating out edu sites for edu related kws (if thats even possible without an edu domain)? My competition analysis says I should be #1 by now but I'm nohere in top 100. I'm no stranger to batshit insane difficulty level keywords so this is very mysterious to me. Anyone insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

No keyword is difficult to rank for anymore. A few years ago when search was a linear grind of who has the most links sure, but what you're battling with now, what is more important than links, is keeping them out of Google's radar.

You've likely triggered a penalty or been hit with a manual slap.

I's seems a penalty for sure. How come you won't be in top 100 inspite of doing proper SEO.

Earn niche-relevant backlinks with good quality content. Established websites like purplemath and physicsclassroom are not on .edu domains, but they can outrank them.

Like I said, I'm no stranger to ranking in difficult niches with competition that is 100x more fierce than these edu related terms. Strategies that are currently working on my sites are seemingly doing absolutely nothing for these sites in this edu niche. If it was a penalty, all my sites would be non ranking right now as I use the same PBN's to rank. No manual action either as far as I can tell on any of the sites I'm trying to get up there. This is why it's baffling and I'm wondering if its possible to outrank these edu sites without edu domain.

Well, top 10 pages are filled with nothing but edu pages or edu subdomains. Majority of them have no link profiles or weak offpage optimization.

You do know that no one can't tell you exactly what the problem is if you don't tell us keywords and your site.....but of course, I won't ask you to tell us this because it is your business.

I'm not looking for SEO tips or competition analysis. Just want to know if it's possible to outrank Edu sites without an edu domain for a kW that is in strictly edu niche. Thanks for comments so far though

@Mudbutt - It is possible to beat .edu competitor with non edu domains, but there are several things matters like, Domain Age, Domain Authority.. etc and You need more authority website backlinks to your website that's it then No other edu can stops you to rank higher. I'm still not sure what is your keyword and what is you competitor.. but if you feel to share it with me maybe I'll suggest you more better ways.

yes you can , i have seen some sites out ranking gov sites for gov niches.

depends upon pr/da/age/content of edu sites.

but some edu niches are fucking hard to crack.

try a ytvideo/blogger with spam if it is able to get in first 3 pages then there is a hope for your site.

Like others have said it very much sounds like you have been flagged and penalized.

However, if you are convinced that is not the case then lets looks at the analysis. You say that the ranking pages have little or no backlink profiles so presumably are ranking on content and DA alone, i would stop backlinking your own page and remove any you have first then is it possible to sneak a link into one of the ranking domains ?

Clearly you need as much original content on the page as the ranking pages do also. Basically i think my strategy would be to emulate as much as i could of the existing ranking pages and try and steal some of their DA via juice from a link.

You can easily outrank them , Just get backlinks from .edu blogs , Contact .edu bloggers Pay them small money and they will easily get ready to give you backlinks.
