Edu redirecting to Porn sites

I have been scanning a lot of university sites and found a large number of .edus redirecting to porn sites and other cpa offers. Anyone out there know how this was accomplished. I'm curious.

Remote file upload exploits and/or less-scrupulous individuals having access to portions of an .edu website for the most part.

Looks like someone sneaked into those university websites and messed around with the links, making them lead to places they shouldn't, like adult sites or offers.They have to lock down the website tight and keep updating security so that nobody can mess with the links and redirect to the wrong places
