.edu Link vs .edu 301 redirect?

Hey guys,

I have access to a .edu page where I posted a link to my site.

However the format is www2. sitename .edu/slug

Would this give my site more link juice?

or should I put my URL in their URL shortener? The URL will be xx. sitename .edu./slug then build a few links to it?

Just boost .edu link where your url is posting
