edu Backlinks Is it really that Good ?

I just want to ask some of you Guru's with experience with this.

How good is .edu backlinks really ? Is it true that 1 .edu backlink is the same as 100 .com backlinks ?
Is all the hype around .edu backlinks really so true ?

You can't compare 1 edu backlink to 100 standard backlinks. Edu backlinks are good to have, but a backlink on a relevant, reputable site is just as good.
 
Yes, edu links is good but you need both edu links and backlinks!
 
edu links is short for educational links. they normally end with .gov at the end, but not in all cases. They links that google regards as worthly!
 
U can never compare. However .edu links are powerful. But not low value edu links

Ok so basically any High PR domain with a link to you is good. Got

It. there is .edu domains as well as .gov

Most of these domains by default have High PR because of all the
student's etc that have their own university blogs running on them giving them a Good PR very fast. ( I Think) lol.
 
There are two things when you look at a site.

1) PageRank
2) TrustRank

PageRank can be gained by getting DO-Follow PR backlinks. But, getting a high pr backlink doesnot always get you a trustrank increase. TrustRank is the measure of how much your is trusted by others.

To increase your TrustRank, you need to get backlinks from .gov .edu and backlinks from highly trusted websites like, Nytimes.com etc

So the purpose of .gov or .edu links is not increase you PageRank, but to increase your TrustRank.

EDU backlink is really good...also .gov is also good..i had on site go from bottom of page 2 to first page only with like 40 edu and gov profile backlinks.

exactly, I am a 10 EDU backlinks my client and within 15 days he is getting good results
 
.edu links are great if they don't come from pages with 1000 OBL or some like that similar to a link farm.
 
Like any type of link, you need quality over quantity.
 
.edu .Gov links are Very Good for SEO. Only if they are Fresh and with a Good PR

You will never be able to make such a measurement between links.

You need diversity in your linkstrategy and edu links should definitely be a part of it. But it can stand alone. You need other links as well, to get the diversity, that normal users would do.

And how to get such links, People come up with their offers but i don't have extra money for testing purpose. I want some reputed names like Angela and Paul or if anyone can guarantee ranking.
