    Just for information, .edu and .gov backlinks do not carry extra weight. If you can manage to get some reputed editorial .com links, they are much valuable than paid (irrelevant) .edu or .gov backlinks.

    Not quite. If you pay to do a guest post on a high authority edu or gov site, then this can be just as effective as the aforementioned "editorial .com links". The TLD is irrelevant when compared to the authority and trust factor of a site.
