Need advice from you pros.
I’ll start by saying my knowledge of seo is very basic. Enough to get pages to rank but I’m no expert.
I have a local based business in the wedding industry which has an exact name match .com set up for its website. The content on the site is good enough to earn it a top rank in the local market which is not too competitive a key word. My site is up top google local and for organic search. It outranks yelp and other bigger wedding sites [the knot, wedding wire] so it gets a decent amount of new clients inquiring every month.
I am leaving the state and curbing the business for a year or more. the leads keep pouring in and I’d like to make money on them. A major player in the industry sits on page 2 locally and is clawing at page 1. so we have been in talks for how to beat convert my traffic and inquires over to them.
They’ve agreed to pay me a few hundred a month to rent out the Domain so that I am essentially pointing my EMD at their website.
My first question is: will this be effective in helping them improve ranking?
The money is there for the taking regardless but I am trying to find the best way to help them get the flow I am getting from my top ranking site.
Is it better to just keep a website up there since it’s indexed?? Maybe just put their content on in place of mine? Or is a 301 redirect a better play?
Any suggestions from you guys who deal with this stuff day in and day out would be greatly appreciated. I’ve dug around a bit on this subject but in light of new algorithm changes don’t know what the best move is here in 2019
