edit server configuration with php

Hi,
I have been contacted by an ad network asking me to try their ads on my website, I didn't like their cpm and removed their code,after that my traffic went down by 50% , is it possible for them to edit the server's configuration simply with code ? I made sure to delete all my website's file and uploaded and older version which I saved before adding their code, I am a person that expects everything from people, that's why I always make a save for the whole website and database before addind any code coming from someone else, so even the .htcaccess wasn't modified.

I was getting around 150k pageviews/ day for a few months, I tried their code for 2 weeks, after removing them my pageviews went down to 80k

Maybe you lost the rank somewhere because of the website loading speed caused by ads

maybe , but is it possible for them to change the server's configuration and make some redirections ?

If you added PHP code and you didn't look into it, what it does, the answer is yes. If you still have the code you added for ads, send it over PM and I can take a look.

With just JS code they can't mess with the server configuration. And there is only one line of comment there.
