I am looking for a nice script for ecommerce site

php mysql

a free script - without script branding...

please suggest which would be ideal ecommerce script

There are many free ecommerce script that you can use:
1. Joomla and Virtuemart
2. Magento
3. PrestaShop
etc

You can search on google for free ecommerce script.

Whatever you do, don't go for oscommerce or zencart.
They are a big headache when you need to customize something.

I setup oscommerce a few years back for my dad wich he sold and about 2 years later he bought an online store wich I upgraded to zencart thinking it would be better (wich it was compared to oscommerce).

Every now and then he wants me to do some customization on his site and it's a real pain to work on, but he likes it from a store managers POV.

I've tried to convince him several times to change the script from zencart
to some other solution with no luck.
 
Yes. Magento is great.
i own a site done with magento.

the quality and experience ya end user get will be much more than a paid script.

I have been searching on google
but final user review is more important

customization of layout is also important...
then installing script should be easy and fast..

but most important for me is a script without script branding

I will check Magento first...

i used magento and prestashop for my ecommerce site...
magento is awesome but it's need a higher server requirement than prestashop..
 
Interspire baby! ... it may not be free, but who said you gotta pay? :)
 
I just use Dreamweaver and Paypal button maker to do mine. Simple and effective. But if you're selling a huge amount of items. Go with Zencart.
 
I've used all 3. Prestashop was probably the best out of all of them.

Virtuemart just never seemed to work for me and I didn't really like the joomla templates a lot...even tho I did like the integration with my product info.

Magento-I tried to work with, but you'd better have coding skills to work with it. Especially if you plan on changing templates. It was just too much of a process. It's sure got some nice templates, though. I keep telling myself that I want to run it. I'm just trying to decide on whether or not I just want to get a pro to install it and add all my junk.

Presatshop is cool and most of the plugins (addons) you need are free. They have some that cost a pretty penny and sometimes you run into the language barrier on the support/forum site. But all in all, I liked it the best. It was really easy to work with. And the backend was nice also as far as tracking and what not.
 
I have been using MAGENTO since it came about and nothing, I mean NOTHING compares to it. If you are a newbie, you can spend hundreds of hours trying to get it all set up especially now that they are over some 10,000 files on initial install. But by far Magento is the best platform to use if you are looking to use multiple niche storefronts.

Go for Magento if u got cash
go for OsCommerce if u got no cash, but know your shit

if you got none of them, youre in trouble, then go for dreamweaver and paypal button maker, lol
 
Try Phpurchase. You can find it at no cost by doing a search online. Plus it integrates with Gravity Forms, which you can also locate at no cost. I played around with them today and had some positive luck

THIS THIS THIS. Two people have recommended osCommerce after this post, but kylef is absolutely right, about osCommerce at least anyway, I've never used Zen Cart. Do not use osCommerce, you will kill yourself trying to customise it and keep it updated. Their idea of a plugin system is manually patching each file you want to change the behaviour of. There's no template system, all the site design is insterspersed with the ********ing PHP, it's horrendous. It means everytime you update to the latest version you have to apply every single change you made over again. Some of it can be done using diff/patch, but that doesn't solve everything. osCommerce is the epitome everything that's wrong with hacked-up PHP projects with no sense of software design. I ended up writing my own Django based ecommerce site and just grabbing all the old data out of the osCommerce database (which is also terribly designed by the way) to escape having to deal with it anymore.
 
there are tons, magento, prestashop, cs-cart , cubecart ,oscommerce and so on...the list goes on and on...hehe
 
thanks for all the info here, im actually looking for somebody to design and develop my ecommerce website and integrate GSpay in it. magento would be nice.. please reply with contacts since I cant PM I m really looking for somebody hard and I cant PM or post a thread to look for somebody.
