If you're an ecommerce expert and has set up a store online for someone, please help me out! I'm working on an e-commerce website, and the checkout isn't working or at least processed. Someone tested it as a customer and tried to buy a product, but the transaction never went through. Everything works, add to cart, and checkout to input info. Only thing seem to not work is when it's processed through after checkout for the final steps to process the item and transaction. I was wondering what could be the issue. It's on WordPress and uses WooCommerce. I'm trying to figure out what went wrong and why it’s not working with the buyout or at least the end result, which is the transaction. I’m not sure myself since I wasn’t the one who tested it or saw what the screen looked like, but the tester told me they did it and it didn’t work.

Long story short, a developer created the website for the owner, and to my knowledge and opinion, it seems like the developer didn’t bother to test if the checkout is working or not, so the work seems unfinished, honestly. Please offer any guidance you have if you’ve experienced a similar situation before or fixed something like this. Please provide what are some steps should I take or look at in order to resolved this.

Check your payment settings to make sure your gateway is set up right. Then turn on WooCommerce debug mode and look at the logs for any errors. May be helpful for you.

Check if your payment gateway is set up correctly with the right keys. Make sure your site has SSL (https). Try turning off other plugins and switch to a default theme to see if that helps. Also, enable WooCommerce debug logs to find errors. Test with sandbox mode to avoid real charges. Let me know your payment gateway if you want more help.

Check if the payment gateway is set up right, not in test mode, and SSL is active. Look for failed orders or error logs in WooCommerce. Also, try disabling plugins or switching themes to rule out conflicts.

Check if the payment gateway is fully configured (API keys, webhook URL, test vs. live mode). Also check WC debug log to see if there is an issue with the API.

Sounds like a payment gateway problem

Want some advice ?

Trust no developer

Recreate the site for the client from scratch using their purchased plugins or plugins from a trusted source like FestingerVault
The lifetime subscription is the best investment you will ever make. It is on sale as we speak

You can export the products and re-import them to the new site

If the moron developer cannot even setup a simple Woocommerce site and was too stupid to test it, there is no
telling how many other problems are there

Make sure you get a PAID subscription to Wordfence so it constantly monitors for problems and security vulnerabilities

Also, since it is a store, publish articles related to the products so the search engines have something to index

Always test the payment system on a Paypal Sandbox test System to make sure it works

Whatever the developer charged, your client should get a 200% refund. Charge back the credit card ....

Sincerely,

The Eye

So you're saying I should tell the client if we can redevelop the website and get a new hosting service and name? There's also tons of other issues too on the website, but the purchase and buyout is the main issues. The client also couldn't get in touch with the developer (or just haven't get in contact with them yet), and it's been more than 6+ months at it.

But if the client doesn't want to redesign and redevelop the website and a new hosting service, but want to stay with the current one, I'll just have to work with whatever the current issue existed. The dev is a moron for not testing it indeed.
