i was reading some of the posts and then had some questions, wondering if you guys could help?

if one were to sell ebooks would one be safe from the publishers subpeenas by simply using this VPN (log free) privateinternetaccess is the company and TOR Bundle and one woule be safe enough to do business at his/her residence?

No im not doing that but I'm curious because I'm interested in a topic a user had brought up on a post that I read on this forum.

My question is not specifically for ebooks it could be anything my question is more leaning towards privacy in regards to VPN of that company that I mentioned and using TOR Bundle on how anony it really is in reality, thank you for your time and your efforts.

I don't think there is a way you can be FULLY anonymous online. There are always bits and pieces of information that can distinguish you (or any individual) from other users.
It all comes down to how bad you've fucked up. If some of the big players target you, they are going to get you eventually.
Using VPNs, tor, proxies, etc. will increase your privacy, but none of them will make you fully anonymous.

Thank you for your reply. Just curious, what techniques could one be doing in order to be anony from say a publishor for example... like would you think that ones privacy would be in full if one were to go to starbucks once a day, use a VPN that does not keep logs and in that VPN use TOR?

I don't get why people swear by VPN/TOR even though you are saying that it is not fully anony

Wouldn't you be protected by using VPN/TOR and filehost if one were to use as an example ebooks, what other hacks could one implement to bypass detection for anony? Changing all information ever 3 months lol just off that the top of my head

Yeah, sure you could go somewhere and use public internet connection, VPN, tor, etc. to hide your identity. But how are you going to receive payments/withdraw funds? There are always transaction records that could lead back to you.
Bitcoins maybe? Again, not 100% secure. The question is could you get away with some minor illegal activities online? Yeah you could if you do everything correctly, people are doing it all the time. Take a look at silkroad and all the things that used to be available there. Did government manage to lock all of the sellers up? No.

Again, it all depends on how much you've fucked up. If the NSA comes after you specifically, they will get you. There is no service available that can guarantee you 100% anonymity. Seriously skilled hackers are getting caught. Do you think they didn't bother to cover their tracks best way they could?

IMHO all the hassle it takes is just not worth it. What amount of money can a person make by selling stolen ebooks? But that's just me. Maybe I'm too paranoid. If you ask for my advice, I'd say that selling stolen goods online is not the brightest idea. There are far less risky methods out there.

I understand that all in all no matter what you could get caught, that makes sense, but what if the offense was just say for example a few copyright items, would that warrant a huge investigation? I don't think so right, again not doing it but I want to learn about privacy etc .

For selling ebooks you should be a genuine seller else people thinks you are a liar. You should be reputable on forums and on other sources to have great sales.
In these days ebooks are not working for making money product niches.
