Everyone always says "sell hot products" - but where do you BUY these products in the 1st place?
The irony is that if you can find a cheap source on the web....so can consumers...so can your competitors.
I'm guessing that the real money in ebay is using phone calls, personal connections, local sources etc to get merchandise at rates that other people simply cannot without having done some negotiation, knowing someone, etc.
For example, I make about $500 - $1k a month selling boots on ebay. The only thing that protects this market for me is that I live near the only factory outlet store in the country for these (my source is therefore fairly well protected).
Yeah, you're right. But you'd be surprised at how lazy some - well, alot of people are. I mean I know of a product that you can get real cheap online through Google but low and behold people are on Ebay and buying the thing for more than what they could get it through Google. So why not just oblige them and go along with their search habits? As long as what you're selling has enough demand on Ebay who cares if you can get it elsewhere cheaper. What I mean is take a look at the completed sales for that item (whatever it is/whatever you're researching) and see if it's making alot of sales on Ebay (using the Completed Auctions search feature - in the left nav bar). If it is bingo, you've got something you can sell. Google will still sell it too but Ebay has some kind of magnetism that attracts buyers to search there first - as weird as that may seem (or not seem). It's the place they think to go. It took me a while to come to terms with what seems obvious (i.e. just Google it) but strangely many people just don't do it. They'll go to Ebay instead. And the product Im thinking has been selling this way for a long time too. So if your research shows qualities like this then you've got a hot product that you can pretty much guarantee is going to sell.
It is a very strange thing because I heard that Ebay has alot of spend thrifts go there which may be true but this particular product defies that logic.
Also, to make more money from just the one customer you might want to consider/factor in selling to this person again and again in the future by searching for other related products to sell them since they'll likely be gong to buy them anyway, why not buy them from someone they've already bought from. I've heard somewhere that people are more likely to buy from someone they've already bought from before than from a stranger. And you can automate all this - do the work once and reap the rewards. Just collect their email and go from there (once you've got your product portfolio sorted out that is).
Summary:
1) Find hot product (above)
2) Find related products that they'll likely be interested in buying too (must be related)
3) set up an email sequence with each product being promoted one at a time (time-released - i.e. autoresponder - use Aweber or something)
4) Work hard at getting as many front ends products to as many eyeballs on Ebay as possible and then funnel them all into your preloaded email sequence.
That's a system - well, the general gist - that they all teach on MySilentTeam.com. An oldy but a goody.
You'll be surprised at how many ideas you can come up with and how little time you have to implement them on your own.
