So I have an item that has been #1 for the search term on ebay for some time now. Because of the number sold and feedback, etc, other metrics, it really cant be dislodged from #1 at this point.

However, about once a week, when I search the keyword, the results are flip-flopped, and my item is lost in the search results. Then sometime later, usually 24hrs, the results are corrected and Im back at #1.

Does anyone have any insight to this? Im not sure why it's happening, and I thought id ask here before contacting eBay. Cheers!

its a bit like the google algorithm, it changes all the time, however if you are back at number 1 24 hours later just be happy

Yes first page, moreover #1-2 result is nice. Maybe I should write a how to for the forum.

And it's not just my listings, my close competitors listings do the same when mine do. The listings that are pushed to the top of search isn't even compliant with ebays known rank criteria.

Hopefully someone here has experience with 1st spot 1st page ebay listings and has noticed this.

According to ebay the factors do not change. I cant post links but the criteria are published in ebay help.

Title optimisation via ebay labs, feedback, number sold, views per sale, and clickthroughs from search - determine your rank on ebay.
My items consistently and exponentially dominate these criteria.
