Hi, Ebay blocked my account from bidding for no reason whatsoever and asks me to "please confirm your identity" because "it looks like you're using a different computer". This isn't true. I've been using the same computer for years - I delete my flash and regular cookies. They want to call a phone number and give a PIN or make me answer a security question. I don't remember my security answer because I gave it over nine years ago.

How can I get a U.S. based phone number? I need the PIN, that's all I think I need. I don't know what might happen on "page 2" after I enter the PIN. How long is the PIN?

I live in Canada, and don't want to create more problems with Ebay/Paypal because I use my PO box mailing address in the U.S., where I travel regularly. I've had contact with Paypal and Ebay before and I don't have hours/days to waste with them.

I heard about tpad, but I don't know the steps to set it up.

I haven't done any of the following to my account:

Sold anything recently
Changed credit card info.
Changed profile info.
Added or removed banking info.
Changed user ID or e-mail address
Changed anything
Accessed account from public terminal or anywhere else
Changed password
Changed anything in my Paypal account
Spammed anyone
Misused or abused terms of service

I don't know why they suddenly flag my account for "confirming identity". It only makes sense if it was random.

How do I solve this? (I wish I had a U.S. friend who could help me, but they died from cancer.)

I hate to pitch you while you're in need but I can supply a contact number for a price long term. But talk to REDCLOVER he know everything regarding the bay if you're being honest it can be fixed.........,

Cancer is horrible..........,

Look in the forum. There are some guys who can help you. Look for phone verification services ;)

Did you register on ebay.com or ebay.ca? If you have a US registration address, you will need to provide a US phone number. My suggestion? Change your registration site to Canada. Provide a Canadian address and phone number. Then confirm by phone. Keep the US shipping address, it doesn't matter.

Good luck!

You don't have to panic about about this. It happend to me several times. You can register google voice number and get usa number. I believe you still can able to forward to your canada phone number. You can enter that google voice number and it doesn't matter either you choose text the pin or call. No live person will call you actually. Automated voice will provide you pin number and you can enter right away.

So I had the same problem 3 weeks ago, and they told me to confirm my identity because I was using an anonymizing tool which is STRICTLY unallowed by PayPal. I phoned in, and on the first time they told me to change my password and I was set. Then a week ago they restricted access again, for no reason since I was using a dedicated US VPN. I resolved it by talking to Secondeye. He sold me a Canadian Passport, and it worked. You may want to try that if the account is important.
