Hi All,

I have been on the receiving end of a eBay scam where I purchased a Iphone4 from a person with over 100 feedback. To later see his feedback plumit with negative feedback. Obviously I never received this phone but Paypal did refund me.

Now from reading about the stealth paypal accounts and ebay. I am guessing the seller used this and therefor Paypal ultimately loose out.

I have searched the forums and read for a few hours on similar scams but could never find something as such. I have a few questions on this.

1. Do people get away with this?
- How do they withdraw the money?
- Anyone ever been caught?

2. Anyone ever done this here? I know that its paypal losing out in the end and alot of people hate paypal.

Please note - I am not interested in doing this myself I am just interested in the discussion.

Regards,

People who engage in scams like this usually transfer the money to a paypal account where they then withdraw their money. Most people will get away with this but it is more trouble than it is worth... You can be brought up on various criminal charges like fraud, grand theft, and money laundering just to name a few...

I hope you are not trying to copy this flawed business model (if you even consider it a business model..)

Moneysavvy, no I am not trying to do so. Just seem to think its a very easy way to scam online and was hoping there is more security to it. I have read much more complex scams on BHW and this seems stupidly easy.

After rereading your post, you noted that your received your money back. People who do this understand that customers will get their money back and it will be paypal who loses out. I assume this is how they justify their actions.

You need to understand that every system is flawed, people will always look for ways to "cheap the system". For the most part, buying and selling on Ebay is safe. These types of scams are few and far between.
