hello everyone.

yesterday i was browsing ebay for some weight lifting equipment and for a laugh i 'sorted' the listings by 'most expensive first' and what i found was unbelievable..

there is a fitness brand called 'MAXSTRENGTH' and their products are reasonably priced and decent.. anyways, there is a product (linked below) going for £513.63 (NOTE THE 13.63)

now... on the official MAXSTRENGTH website the exact same product is priced £13.63... the ebay sellers have literally added £500 on top!

they have sold 286 of these. assuming £12 delivery (done a quick check) they've made £139,568 profit just on that product.

they have sold over 10,000 products and some of their listings are worth more.

so my point of this thread is, is it as easy as it seems to do this myself? also are they not breaking any TOS? (or even the law for fraud?)

very eagar to hear back from anyone as im fed up of my 9-5 and this seems like a lot more money for a lot less effort.

Perfectly legal, you could do similar by drop shipping products, quite common on eBay and amazon

If you click on the number of items sold, you'll see that the last item was sold in February 2017 and they sold it for £13.63.

Now the reason why they currently have a listing for £513.63 is probably, because they don't have this item in stock, however they don't want to re-list the listing in the future, so they just keep it running in the meantime.
 
ah. well that just fully pissed on my parade haha oh well.. cant blame a man for trying. i didnt realised you could see the purchase history.. learn something new everyday haha, thanks everyone for waking me up from my dream and for the quick replies :)
 
Please get your information straught before posting. What they did is perfectly legal.

Wow never knew this was a feature.
I've seen similar stuff on ebay. An "occult ring" selling for $888 with several quantities sold. Reverse image search the pic lead to an ecommerce site selling same thing, description and all, for $444. Now I'll never know if they really sold for $888.

Well it's not very useful if you're not a seller (which I suppose you ain't). But I guess you've now learnt something new! :D
 
I think it's just a typo, a 5 was accidentally pressed before typing £13.63

No it wasn't. The seller didn't want anyone to buy the item so the listing could stay up. If it had went down it would take time to build up traffic for that specific item. So while their restocking they increase the price. Common practice in the ebay market.

If you deal with eBay a lot, you'll find out that if there are any REAL get rich quick ideas that work, it will get quickly burned out, sometimes within days.

This is why so many of "let's partner up on eBay, your account my products, blah blah blah" postings on BHW are outright scams. If he has a real money making product that's legal and profitable over long term, he doesn't need you.

I'm in the same boat as you, I thought they sold for that price as well. I've seen other things at huge prices and wondered how the hell were they getting sales. I suppose if you bought it at the high price they would still take your money. I've still a lot to learn it seems.
