Ebay item location crackdown?

I've been on ebay for nearly 17 years. I've never had any issues in the past if my item location in the listing is different from where it was actually being shipped from
(so long as it is within the same country). For example, since I dropship, I left all my item locations as the same city and state (California) but sometimes my items are being
shipped out from other parts of the US to US customers. Regardless, they arrive fast and safe and have had 100% positive for most of my 17 years.

I've just been contacted by ebay two times now (once about two weeks ago and one more time just yesterday) about telling me that my item listing policy issue is not correct
and that I need to ensure that where I say the item is located must match where it is actually being shipped from in the tracking number.

I need to know how to be able to write multiple shipping locations for my listings because depending on where the buyer is located in the US, it will shipped out by the nearest
warehouse. They said if they have warn me a 3rd time, I will be restricted from selling for 3 days and all my listings will disappear from the selling search list.

I remember when they implemented this into their update a while back. Around the same time they cracked down on dropshipping from walmart and Amazon.

AFAIK a legit dropshipper or person with multiple warehouses can remove the zip code from the shipping location in the listing and input "multiple locations" as the city from which the item ships. Ebay is apparently fine with this as long as the country it ships from matches. I read this in the Ebay community forum so I cannot vouch for it 100%.

I was doing a little dropshipping back when they added this to the terms of service. So to be safe I removed my zip code from the ship from section and listed the city as United States for my dropshipped listings. The listing stated the item location as United States and ships from United States.

At the time I also printed labels from Ebay for items I had on hand and shipped from my home. I left the ship from location alone as I had these items in hand.

As an extra precaution I would not add the tracking number to the dropshipped orders and would only mark the item as shipped. I would however add a message to the order details stating it had shipped and provide the tracking # there and also send the customer a message with the info.

Of course some buyers did open "Item Not Received" claims and I would have to upload the tracking to the case details in order to prove it was delivered. But I had no issues with the ship from location and received no warnings from Ebay.

I can't say for sure that removing the zip code and adding multiple locations will stop you from getting the 3rd infraction since you are already on their radar. But if you do not upload the tracking number into the system they cannot know from where the item actually ships.

You could try giving them a call and tell them you were unaware of the issue and try to get the strikes removed but that may open up other problems. They may want proof that you are a legitimate dropshipper and not doing retail arbitrage.

Of course by not uploading tracking you will lose Top Rated status and any discounts but you will at least stay under the radar. You will also have to upload the tracking to any INR cases that may arise.

ebay is cracking down more and more on drop shippers. You can just set your item location to the United States and that is vague enough.

a lot of dropshippers use "multiple locations" in listing. It is not super good thing, but it is the only way to do that
