I’m a veteran seller in the online market place and the greed of eBay is so unquestionably unethical that it’s basically extortion to sellers on the website.
I sell on multiple platforms ranging from Amazon, Shopify to EBay and I must say eBay is by FAR the worst platform as a seller. I currently have around 300-400 items listed and I gross around £15,000 monthly with a 25% percent profit taking out costs of manufacturing, designing and shipping costs to provide a good product to customers.
eBay being an eCommerce monopoly only concerned with filling their own pockets to further their own gain, is what’s led to their downfall. Let me start with their billing system. Instead of taking their fee for selling on their website for 10% of total revenue and taking it off each product sale to make financial management and net profit calculations easier, they insist on billing a huge amount monthly which is EXTREMELY inconvenient aswell as too high of a fee. This is not the only extortion however, eBay owns PayPal through shares and insists on PayPal fees for even being paid through that system for product purchases averaging to around 4 percent of total revenue. eBay also charges around 6 percent to sponsor an item to even start getting views on your products as anything less is pointless. I’m now left with 5% profit from my efforts and eBay being a monopoly focused on squeezing the life of their sellers that bring capital adds another fee of £25 roughly $35 a month adding up to $70.
Iv made 7 figures selling online and growing each of my investments with the net profit allowing for compound growth of your bussines. eBay is by FAR the WORST platform to try and start your online empire, and the worst to do high volume sales on. Iv lost a little bit of money, however I lost my time which is way more valuable to me than anything else. Steer clear of eBay selling and stick to Amazon FBA, Shopify and Fiverr. This is the worst selling experience ever.
