eBay Dropshipping

I have recently found a good electronics wholesaler that is happy to dropship orders for me. This supplier also has good prices and a good selection. I have never sold on eBay before, but I thought it would be a good place to start selling quickly and cheaply.

However, after posting various electronics items that range in price (from a few $ to a few hundred $) all with free shipping, I have yet to get people to even view my items. My prices are just about the same or even less as other sellers and I have pictures and good descriptions for each product. Instantly after posting, each page says that is has 2 views. I don't know if that is eBay taking pity on me for not getting any views or if it is some weird coincidence that ALL my products get EXACTLY 2 views right away.

Most of my products have been up for a day and are still at 2, this is what is bugging me. Am I doing something wrong? Are people just not willing to view it because I only have a rating of 10? I will be grateful toward any help people can offer me.

without actually seeing the auctions, it will be touch to tell you what the issue is. The things I can tell you as possible reasons are make sure the property is in the right category and make sure there's no mistake anywhere in the listing. Also, depending how long you set the auction for, you may not get shown right away until your auction has a couple days remaining.

As far as the views, I'm guessing there is not anyone looking at your auctions. I'm pretty confident that those 2 views you have are actually YOU looking at the auction. Whenever you do this, ebay will count those as view. With that being said and with what I've said above, I'm guessing that you set the auction up wrong.

One last tip, search for you auction, if it does not come up at all, there is for sure something wrong with the auction.

yes your rating is crap. most likely your listings are ugly as well. spend some time and find out average cost etc. also post link

So I've already gotten a few questions about selling on ebay, so if mappum doesn't mind we can use this thread for a question & answer session for starting up and selling on ebay.

Let me know specifically what you guys need though. What you've been trying and where you get stuck.

If you have auctions that aren't doing well send me a PM with links and I'll gladly look them over. My biggest advice for starters is HIGH QUALITY PICTURES. I'll look over layouts, picture quality, organization, and I'll try and tell you what I think of the products you're looking to sell based on possible profits and supply/demand from a little bit of research.

Shoot me some questions and I'll start fielding what I can!

To be honest, selling on eBay is definitely one of the easier ways of selling products online, quite a lot simpler too. In my personal opinion sell, how you would sell on your own website but with a minor tweaks. Create a nice sales page and layout, don't hesitate to pay the extra $3-5 for graphical changes, it makes a world of difference.

Your main goal is to make yourself seem as official, genuine and authoritative as possible. You MUST get your trader rating up, I personally don't even bother to look at pages from sellers who have anything under 40 and don't have 99.5-100 positive feedback.

I find being more genuine helps. Connect with the potential buyer, encourage him to ask questions. Give him your "personal" details. You can pass them off as personal, they don't need to be. You can just grab a disposable phone number.

Some ideas I sent in a PM that might help everyone else as well:

Make sure your upsell price is pretty high compared to what you buy from the wholesalers at. POS ebay/paypal take a good 15-30% sometimes in fees. If possible try to find products that you can buy for example for $25 and sell for $75, because if you buy for $25 and sell for $30 you will probably lose money from fees.

And when you take pictures of images...make them BIG SHARP HIGH QUALITY!! This is what sells stuff for you. People will trust you because they'll go "oh big pictures with close ups...he's not trying to hide anything" and people like big shiney pictures so it'll help sell the product. Throw in a picture or two of the item in use maybe. If I was selling an iphone, I'd put up a quality picture of a model using it or some celebrity holding it. Don't reinvent the wheel, TV uses pretty people and celebs to sell stuff, why can't you?

If you need some help making templates for items let me know. And if you are able to keep selling just the same 4-5 items then you are golden. Set up turbolister with those items and all you have to do it click upload to list the item again and again. So you make one good template, modify it for all 5 items each with their own pictures and pretty people, and make 5 turbolister files. Saves you TONS of time.

ebay is so rediculous, with fees plus gaypal fees. The only way I could make money was by selling fakes...

ebay is for fake heh. Usually people know they are buying fake. Anyway, I kinda have the same prob as you: no one buy from me. Currently I have 30 ads up. 6 pos as seller, 100%. I am using auctiva to speed up the process.

The 2 auction views always seems to come up straight away if I list directly via the site instead of using turbo lister so, sorry to disappoint, but I don't think you're getting any views at all!!

You need to undertake keyword research to check what words people are actually searching for in relation to what you are selling.

Using html for your listings and inserting extra images into the text also helps.

If you want to build your rep then try flogging some really cheap stuff. Not sure about USA but certainly in the UK you can list auctions for free up to 99p starting bid. I have 3 active accounts and this is normally how I get them going before selling larger ticket items.
