eBay DropShipping - The Genesis

Yeah just search the listing, i listed a few items the other night without checking and when I looked later there were 50 other sellers

Good looks, that should really help me. Something I should've been already doing....

How's your DS results been? (If you don't mind me asking)

As for the refund, take it back to your home address, and just sell it second hand again, you might make a loss, but it keeps things moving, and gets the cash back into your system.

How are you dealing with price changes on Amazon?...they can change rapidly at times.
Ebay fees can be crippling so be careful. I had an Ebay store and did well last christmas but the fees killed a lot of my profit, but it was a learning curve, may well start up another store soon. Good luck with yours.

If you check in my earlier posts, I'm using a website that calculates eBay and PayPal fees. I set my listings to be earning 1-10$ (depending on product, other prices, etc.), after fees. So if a price does fluctuate on Amazon it usually won't hurt me too badly. At the most I may take a 1-5$ hit, but as I mentioned as well I'm not concerned with my making a million dollars ATM, just trying to get everything rolling, surpass holds, and I have money to "invest"/put back in.

I check my low profit (1-2$ after fees) listings mainly. I have set up a spreadsheet with product name, eBay link, Amazon link, original profit, and a section for profit change (so if it started at $3, dropped to $2, and don't want to increase price, I know my new profit.).

I also track my sales manually (by hand) on a spreadsheet I created and keep in a folder. I have product name, buyer name, price paid, price bought, and ending profit, so this way at the end of the month I can just look at the sheet, add my numbers and make sure they're all correct. I'm 100% doing more than need be, but 1.) I'm someone who likes some kind of physical documents, 2.) I actually enjoy the extra work, as I need something to keep me busy and 3.) I'm about proper execution and I want to make sure I really understand everything and put in some dirty work before I start using automated services.... Because if by chance those services make a mistake, then I want to be able to find it and understand it on my own easily.

DAY 14

ITEMS SOLD:
9 (+3 this week) (had an order cancelled last week)

MONEY RECEIVED:
$519.95 (+ $99.63 this week)

NET PROFIT:
~30.00 (from this week)

WATCHED ITEMS:
33 (+8 from a week ago)

Overall, pretty good week. Selling #'s are down, but made some adjustments and profited more for less this week :D . Got 15 products listed tonight. I may have one order I'm cancelling this week, we'll see. All in all not bad. The listings I made tonight I'd say are pretty damn good with a lot of potential — relevant products with >6-8 other listings all 3-10$ profits. I think they should sell well and help attribute to my pocket weight ;)

Store 2's listings have garnered up some watchers, and 1 bidder in less than 24 hours — which I'm pretty happy about. Especially since after shipping, which will pretty much be nothing it's all profit. Tonight felt pretty slow, but I'm trying to find listings that WILL sell, not may sell. Still have 35 more for the month, and I'm going to be spending a lot of time getting good listings for those as well.

Process a few orders tomorrow night, and it's back to the listing research/creation process.

Also, one last thing: I'm going to be attempting to find between 3-5 products that can net me +40$ profits to see how that goes (these are the types of listings I want to find as a DSer anyway, obviously), as most of my listings have been low profit to help generate sales.

DAY 18

So, a few more updates to this point. Store 1 has made 3 sales since I last updated; ~$3, ~$16, and ~20$ profits on them. Not bad. Also store 2 has just made its first sale, didn't process yet, but the profit is probably 3-6$ based off past sales and my listing tactics, etc. I'm also garnering up some watchers/bidders on my personal items I had listed. Less than 24 hours on all the listings, and there's 3 that will sell, and I'm assuming another 1-4 will too based on watchers. Then I'll just re-list until they sell.

Actually haven't accomplished much the past week, which I'm kind of hanging my head in regards too now, but nonetheless this week will much more productive. Especially as Autumn is around the corner, I'll have a lot more time to lock-in and focus. Still need to get another couple of my personal items listed in store 2, and have another 35 listings to get up in store 1.

As my droppshipping experience is picking up, I'm now beginning to get a good feel for things. Mainly time, and how much of it is actually spent in regards to DSing. I'm only spending maybe 1-2, sometimes 3 hours 4-5 times a week and getting everything I need be accomplished (and remember, I'm admittedly overworking because I'm OCD and everything). That I believe I'm closing in on the point where I want to start another journey.

I know I mentioned I DO NOT want to multi-task and really wanted to stay in DSing for quite some time before pursuing anything else, BUT, there really isn't a whole lot to DSing in the gran scheme of things and my second journey will probably involve minimal time as well. I won't be giving the official start more than an idea until at least September, and I've bypassed holds, have a better grasp on what a "normal" week may involve.

But I'll be creating an SEO service provider, just reselling services. At least that's the idea as of now, promoting through FB ads, FB groups, Twitter, YouTube, forums, etc. Not sure if I'll create another, separate thread, or just post updates in here. More updates on that will come, as again, I'm not jumping into anything else ATM.

Get automation tools. Less work more profit

Kind of wanted to get the hang of things on my own first. That way if something were to happen, I'd better understand it.

Any you recommend, or would direct me towards?

The two main tools you'll need are repricing and listing. And auto-ordering down the road. A good place to start would be hydra lister and skugrid, as I have seen many people using. If you choose to use these you can message me for my link and I think you can get them discounted a bit.

But If you want to make good money without hours of work automation is the only option

Thanks, I'll check it out and be in touch.

Will give an update tomorrow morning. Have to process a few orders, and then need to stay rogue until Sept hits.

Payment is for CC is due Sept 1-3, and do not want any charges that will be pending in my PP until mid-Sept on that statement.

MONTH 1 RESULTS:

ITEMS SOLD:
18 (13 have been processed, the next 5 will not be shipped until Sept)

SALES:
$1,144.08 ($714.77 received, the rest, again will be received in Sept)

NET PROFIT:
$1,413.70 (received after PP fees) - $1,144.08 (in sales) - eBay fee = $172.62 IN PROFIT FIRST MONTH

Not a bad first month. I'll have to double check, but my second store should do around 100$ for August, but that is off organic sales. I've had to cancel a few sales recently. To chop it up, I don't have the credit ATM to dropship personally. I'm using someone else's card thus putting me in a sticky situation. Their payment is due between Aug 30 - Sept 2, so I told any customers whose purchases would hold past that point, I'd be unable to ship their product until the 1st. Some were fine, others wanted a refund, no one was upset, all very understanding, but I also approached the situation immediately.

Fortunately, dropshipping is helping me build my personal credit. It may take a few months until I'm able to use mine, but that's fine. At the very least it's a better credit building method than most people have lol. Once I lose the PP hold though, this won't be an issue. So hopefully next month I'll have surpassed the holds and be able to sell freely. My card limit is currently 400$, I believe once I've reached 1,000$ limit I should easily be able to hand all DSing cost on my own (as I'll to transfer to bank and pay off fees within a few days time). But that will be yet another learning experience once I reach that point.

Starting next week I'll be back and full fledged, I'll be updating sparingly, and will update on store 2 once it has passed it's hold barriers.

Cheers!

MONTH 2 - DAY 1

So I'm just finishing up getting some of the new listings for this month up. I got up 10 listings today (plus 7 lastnight that I had left over from August). Of those 17 listings, I'd said 8-10 off the top of my head are 15$+ profit margin holders. Most others are 6-10$. I'll be adding the low profit guys again, but want to take a stab into selling for higher profits now. I will 100% hit 25 sold listings this month. And if I can top my last month (which will forever be my goal), and sell 20+ this month, with 15$+ margins... I can pull in a nice little profit.

My short-term goal for now is to sell 50 or over listings in 1 month before the beginning of 2017 (in one store). This would be an ideal way for me to start the new year going into each month selling 50+ items/month :D . Anyway, again, store 2 will not be mentioned again probably until October. Shipped out ~7 sales Tuesday. Have another 2 to ship this week, plus 2 pending. Going to a few local thrift stores to get some cheap stuff to sell. I hope to begin DS on store 2 in October (SpOoOoOoKy hours), and starting a 3rd store within the next week — which I'll be working up past the hold organically, selling clothes, etc. before DS.

Cheers fam

BIG QUESTIONS HERE FOR ANY EXPERIENCED DROPSHIPPERS:

  • Is it recommended/smart to promote eBay stores through ads (possible FB ads, eBay ads, Google, etc.)?
  • What about through social networks? — I have many social accounts with large followings and can also build large followings quickly... Would I benefit from having FB/TW/IG/Etc accounts of linking eBay in accounts?

MONTH 2 - DAY 9

2 sales thus far this month, no issue though. The next few days I will be HAMMERING listings. eBay is offering free 500 listings this month (until the 11th), so the next 3 night I'm am 100% determined to get all of my listings out :) (or $ limit, whichever hits first).

Will give number updates next Friday when I have more to update. BUT IF YOU'RE A SELLER, 500 FREE LISTINGS RIGHT NOW, GO GET EM.

Hi! I'm also new at ds on ebay. I started 1 month and a half ago and very noob at it lol. My first month I sold $1,900 worth of merchandise and a profit of about $250. I had a few refunds from out of stock which dripped my rating so now contemplsting weather to just do another store and learn from my mistakes from the first one. Im only worried that it will restart the pp hold 90 days over again. Any one know if it does? Hope all goes well!!
