Ebay Dropshipping From China

I have found a good China vendor of my niche product and ordered a few samples which took around a month to get to the East Coast of the USA. I think this product would sell really well on Ebay but I'm worried the time it takes to ship will give me bad ratings from customers. Should I just msg my customers and give them the heads up about ship time?

The problem with long shipping times is that even when you write in the listing in bright red flashing letters that the item will take a month to ship, tards will not read your listing and start filing Non Delivery disputes and your defect rate will get you shut down. If it sells really well, can you order the initial shipment and ship them yourself and order more as needed? I also suspect that your vendor doesn't keep inventory on hand, if he's not no reaon for it to take a month for you to receive.

I think it is worth writing about how long it takes shipping of the product. The buyer in this situation will accept the conditions of purchase.

If you dont want to deal with shipping then send them to a fulfillment centre but dropshipping from china will just cause problems
Like toml said, people do not read the description properly or atall, they scan over it. Trust me

Shipping times of 2 or more weeks are nowadays unacceptable. You will get low DSR on ship time, your defect rate will be way up high in no time.

If you are certain that the products will sell well just save up or borrow some funds to get some stock going and ship yourself with tracking and have happy customers.

You will keep control of things this way as well.

Never drop ship from china not on less you state that items are coming from china in shipping description may work.
But some buyers don't read description and will leave you negative feedback for the long wait for shipping, i would not do this method.

Yes I avoid dropshipping from China as tempting as the cheap prices are - not only it takes ages to arrive there is also a high chance of it getting lost and that is almost surely a negative feedback. I just ship them over to my place, hold the stock and sell it from there. I then emphasize on "LOCAL STOCK" (sometimes in the picture) and I find that customers are happy to pay a premium for that.

toml3030 is also right, some vendors don't keep them in hand (so you're a few hands down the line), no surprises your item arrives late.

Many good local drop shippers just pick one in your state. Let the Chinese do business from China, you can't win on either front (Price-Survivable profit margin and Speed-vs local). They sell so many, 50+ negs in a month will still see them as a top-seller, you on the other hand, won't be able to pull off that volume, at least at the start to balance the feedback books.

If you really want to go ahead, have a look at the Chinese sellers, they have a grid image saying:
"Country", 1-7 Days, 8-15, 16-30, 45+
US, 10%, 15%, 50%, REFUND
UK, 8%, 35%, 42%, REFUND

If you live in the USA:
-Buy in bulk
-Pay for faster delivery (shipping from china is quite expensive, but when buying in bulk its way cheaper)
-Have the items shipped in your house
-Separate the broken/wet ones (recieving wet goods happens quite often because of the air delivery)
-Pick pack and create labels
-Sell

If you do not live in the USA:
-Find a fulfillment service(shipwire, efulfillmentservice, usafill) or use Amazon FBA
-Calculate your revenue after paying for delivery and quality inspection.
-Have them to pick&pack your goods
-Ship your goods to them
-Sell

Note: Using Fulfillment services requires you to have a registered company.

In order to prevent any negative reviews you should write about your shipping time. Paying for faster delivery is an option, but sometimes it's just unprofitable.

1 month is way too long buy a shipment and do shipping yourself

Just another note about what todordonev said; buying in bulk from China could be hard as well. Not sure what the taxation law is like in the USA, but here in Australia, anything over $1000 is taxed, and they have a book 1000's of pages long to categories the items coming in, so when we import an item for the first time, we always have to go through a customs broker... not cheap

And following what nameless7 has said, and what I said above; You would be surprised how many people don't read the whole thing, come back expecting it delivered yesterday, and neg you. You can't do a thing about these people. Adding the chart is prevention, but you'll still get some. Just make sure you set you "Shipped From" as the true location.

Personally, I find myself paying on average 10% more for things if it's 3 days vs 4 weeks delivery. I would pay reasonably more if I knew these guys would give me better service. This is backed up by our sales data. We are more expensive, but people still buy from us. Our volume might not be as high as the Chinese sellers, but our profit at the end of the day might even be higher selling the same thing.
