Just curious if anybody has input on Amazon selling success compared to ebay selling success? I would think Amazon has way more traffic and sales?

these days amazon got flooded with chinese sellers. They dont have to pay sales taxes so that means they can sell their items so much cheaper than the rest of us. they get a lot of fake reviews and im sure they buy clicks as well.

another reason is, that the fees on amazon are much higher compared to ebay

Amazon fba isnt too bad. There are some bots and diff tools you can use to analyze trends that are compatible with your amazon seller account. If you know how to use those combined with the right products, amazon could be a consistent slow burn with low roi and high volume. It is for me at least. I use ebay for me niche stuff collectibles, hype limited products, etc.. Lower volume and high roi. They both work well.

trying both won't hurt,
however I would choose Amazon over Ebay due to their traffic source and size , also they make shipping a lot easier.

Start with eBay to understand to basics of dropshipping and then move on to Amazon FBA as it's more complex.
