Spend the time learning Adobe Premiere pro and you have a skill for life. It's a pain in the ass to struggle with shitty movie making software and low video editing skills.
 
Sony Vegas is a good investment and pretty east to use IMO
 
Avid though its a little complicated but worth it ;)
 
I'm using for video making is Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effect both are really good for video making

You gave too little information about what exactly you want to create in this program, but Sony Vegas is not as difficult to use as it may seem. For basic video processing and adding simple effects it will be perfect.

On the other hand, if you are thinking about professional video creation, it's worth learning Adobe software.
 
If you are thinking going big with this invest your time in something that will benefit you, Adobe After Effects you can make explainers/intros and every animation you will ever need for IM and trust me HQ videos are a key to marketing.

You can try Adobe Premier CC! You should search on youtube for Peter McKinnon he has some really useful tutorials ! It has a really fast render speed and the workflow is just amazing! I use it almost everyday and I love it
 
Compositing (short videos, huge effects editing) --> After effects

Montage (long videos with few effects and some transictions) --> Sony vegas
