He appeals to people that like shiny things and have a shorter attention span. The majority of people just aren't interested in something such as how your decisions regarding car purchasing impact your wealth over time. By the time two persons with the same amount of income retire(hit age 65)there can be a significant difference of net worth from the frequency of car purchases, type of cars purchased, as well as cash purchase vs 0% interest financing.
