Easy keyword but not ranking

I'm in a low competition niche in which wikipedia has the first ranking for the main keyword with just 1 backlink. Other websites have bit more backlinks 125 at most but still those backlinks are from pr 0 pages many from the same domain. On the other hand my website has 46 backlinks many pr5 and pr4 from d0follow blog comments with varying anchor texts to different pages to the site.

Is that normal or there is something wrong with my website? Maybe it's because i have only 4 pages of content which is duplicate anyway.
On most keywords i rank somwhere in between page 10 and 100.

Thin dup content + aggressive link building = crap rankings.
 
Well i don't know if 46 links in a few weeks is agressive link building...
 
why dont you go for aggressive link building?
and yes rewrite the content.

I think you've answered your own question.

1) Duplicate content
2) Trash content
3) Erratic link building

If you have 4) a new site then you're exactly where I'd expect you to be :)
 
Your competition seems strong. Amazon has very strong ranked pages with 0-100 backlinks and PR0. How is their onsite SEO?

From mainly pr5 + pr4?
For a small niche I would do 46 over 6 months.
Do what everybody here says and blast it to fuck...or be patient and write some unique content.
 
That's far from aggressive link building, kick it up a notch with a xrumer blast and have someone on here write you some fresh articles.
 
Let's not get the cart ahead of the horse - how is your on-page SEO?

Is your main keyword or keywords in the:

1.) Title
2.) URL
3.) Description
4.) H1
???

What "kind" of site is this? Static HTML, Wordpress, Joomla, a blogger freebie? If it's your own site and it's WP then you can very rapidly get your on-page SEO factors in order. Well, you can do all these things rapidly regardless of what the platform is for the site, but I find WP to be the best for nailing your on-page SEO as quickly and effectively as possible.

Get all those ducks in a row, then buy some new articles or spin up the one's you've already got, get some more content on the site, THEN worry about the off-page SEO (your in-bound links, their number, and quality).

Well i have my main keywords in the title and domain name however urls aren't optimised and no h1 tags. I'm using wordpress.

Oh well i was thinking that it will be so easy to rank for this that i wouldn't have to worry about on page seo.
