Eastern Ontario House Fire Tragedy

This really hits close to home - my ex-wife (whom I am still on friendly terms with) and her husband, along with one of my sons who still lives with his mom and her husband's son lost everything in a house fire in Eastern Ontario yesterday.

It's heartbreaking for me; even more devastating for the four people involved. Thank God there was no loss of life, but the house and it's contents were totally and completely destroyed. Nothing can be salvaged from it.

The only thing they have are the clothes they were wearing. My ex's husband built the house himself, even milling the timber that was used with his own hands.

If there is anyone out in that area that might have any clothing donations to offer, please PM me. Shoes and clothing are needed at this time.

I hope the mods and others won't mind this kind of post - I'm just trying to get some loved ones as much help as possible at this time.

Insurance?

Yes, they do have insurance thankfully. However, there are some immediate needs before they will see any funds from that.

Update.. wow.. I can not believe people.. I get questions like "Well, didn't they have insurance?" "Didn't the Red Cross help out?"

Yeah.. the Red Cross gave $120.00 gift certificates for Walmart for each person... the insurance is still investigating.. the fact of the matter is, they are still homeless, have nothing like underwear, socks, deodorants, shampoo, etc... and it will be a long time until they get to that point.

Have we become so reliant on the charity of things like the Red Cross, and the beurocracy of insurance companies?

So very thankful for those that have helped, so sad to have to answer cynics.. my son, and his family have nothing... so thankful to those who have helped.

No insurance money or Red Cross money will ever make up for the devastation or craziness their life is going through right now.
