Hi, I currently own a blog that generates around $1,000 per month. At the moment, almost all of the traffic comes from SEO, with a small amount from AI-driven sources as well. What would be the easiest channel to expand into next? I feel relying solely on SEO is becoming increasingly risky...

if you already have steady traffic coming in, you should start building an email list like yesterday. capture those visitors before google hits you with another update. once you have their emails you own that traffic and can send them to new posts or affiliate offers whenever you want. if you want fresh traffic sources, pinterest is probably the easiest to automate if your niche fits. just spin up some templates on canva and schedule them out. facebook groups can also work but they take way too much manual moderation... not worth the time unless you can hire a cheap mod.

email list is the right call but dont sleep on building it the right way. a generic "subscribe to my newsletter" box converts like garbage. make a small content upgrade tied to your best ranking posts, like a checklist or a quick pdf, and you'll pull way more emails from the seo traffic you already have.

for a second traffic channel honestly depends on your niche but i'd look at youtube before pinterest. even faceless faceless stuff with screen recordings or simple slideshow vids ranks and compounds over time, and it feeds back into your seo. pinterest can work but the traffic quality is hit or miss and it dried up for me twice when they changed the algo.

whatever you pick just dont spread thin across 4 channels at once. nail email + one new source first.

email is solid advice and i wont repeat it. one thing nobody mentioned... your AI traffic. if youre already getting some of that, lean into it. structure your posts so they get cited, clear headings, direct answers up top, schema markup. thats traffic thats only gonna grow and most people sleeping on it right now.

on the second channel debate, youtube vs pinterest really comes down to how much you wanna be on camera or not. faceless youtube works but the production time is real even for slideshow stuff. pinterest is faster to spin up but yeah the algo changes will wreck you randomly, ive had boards die overnight too.

honestly if i was in your shoes id do email first, then test pinterest for like 60 days since its low effort, and only go youtube if you actually enjoy making the videos. burnout kills more channels than algos do imo.

Great stuff guys, thanks! Will go with email asap.

Good call on going with email. @The WP Nerd is right about using a content upgrade, but once you set that up, do not wait until you have a huge list to start mailing them. I made that mistake on a niche site last year... waited until I had 500 subscribers and by the time I sent the first broadcast half the list forgot who I was and hit the spam button. Just set up a simple 3-step automated welcome sequence from day one. Deliver the freebie, send a quick tip a day later, and then pitch a solid affiliate product in the third email. Keeps the list warm and starts making extra cash on autopilot while you work on your next traffic channel.

yeah email is the safest first move here. i'd add the opt-in on the pages already pulling seo traffic and send a simple welcome email early, otherwise the list goes cold fast.

pinterest is probably the easiest add-on for a blog, similar content format and traffic comes pretty passive once pins start ranking

Since you decided on email, make sure you drop a Meta pixel on the site right now if you havent already. even if you arent running ads yet. once you start getting email signups, you can run super cheap retargeting ads to your blog visitors to push them to your opt-in. cold traffic ads are a money pit but retargeting people who already know your site is cheap as hell and converts crazy high.

agree with @Campaigns By Mike on keeping the sequence simple. but instead of just pitching immediately, make your first automated email ask them a simple question like what are they struggling with right now. when they reply, it boosts your sender reputation like crazy and keeps you out of the promo tab. simple deliverability trick that actually works.

Pinterest if it aligns with what you're promoting. And I say aligns because Pinterest is female based, so some niches won't work there very well.

Email is the right play... @Fluxify made a good point about the pixel, definitely get that on there now even if you arent running ads yet. One thing on the pinterest vs youtube debate... if you want fast traffic without spending hours editing, maybe try short form video like tiktok or youtube shorts. You can basically take your top seo posts, run them through a basic ai tool to turn them into quick 30-second clips, and schedule them out. It takes way less time than traditional youtube and the reach can be pretty wild if one pops off. Plus you can just direct them straight to your newsletter opt-in.
