What’s the best action to automate on Instagram nowadays without getting blocked? Is it DM’s/comments/reply’s? What’s working for those who are automating IG?

There's no such thing as automating easiest action, even the easiest action can give you blocks, AC or Bans if you don't do it right.

Technically all those actions have roughly the same odds of tripping up IG's system. For DMs, comments, and replies, you'll want to make sure your bot doesn't exceed the daily limit. To minimize further risk, space out the actions within over the course of the 24 hours and not just all on one go.

Idk what Y'all are talking about lol. There is multiple software options at the moment giving the ability to automate Instagram. SUsocial or sharingtools just to name 2. Everyone is just salty because it's not as easy as it used to be. Now it takes some work and some brain calories. Anything is possible but anything "easy" generally isn't worth doing.

There is not such thing as easiest action.
Even just login from a bot can get some accounts block from my experience.
If you are asking for warmup them watching stories and scrolling the feed and explore and saving posts are good actions.
