E-commerce - product category seo

Hi! I have an e-commerce site and I'm newbie in seo... so need some advice...
If I have a category page with 50 products and I write unique content for the product pages will get my category page better position in the search engine? (Or it will affect only the product pages?)

I suggest that you get better optimization for the page that you wish to rank. You can do that, but the risk is having more unexpectedly put in the other.

The category page may rank, but it will be an unstable ranking as the keywords may vary and it could contribute to issues such as keyword cannibalization in the process.
Normally, it would be better if the individual pages rank for the specific keyword, and that is to avoid cannibalization in the process.
Cannibalization normally isn't a big issue, but if the ranking jumps up and down for an extended period of time, that may be an issue in the long run.
