E-commerce Link Building

Hi,

I have a E-Commerce site which has been around for few years. However, it's not producing the results.. I have tried few SEO companies but without too much success. So, I have decided to go and learn SEO in order to turn it around. The site has over 200 keywords listed in google but most of them are on pages 3+...

I have recently started posting blogs on the site which include long tail keywords and low competition. The most recent post went straight two page two while others are on page 3 to 6...

I want to try and push these to page one but despite spending hours reading about SEO I have few questions which I need answering. So I hope you guys could help with this.

I know about the Private Blog networks and this is work in progress and it's very time consuming.

The easier options are Web 2.0 - but I keep reading mixed results on these. Are they still worth doing? If so would the main blog post point to the keyword blog on the shop site or to the main site page?

The site has over 2000 products. What is the best way to try and optimise each product for higher ranking? Would I need build links for each product?

I know this has already probably been answered - but due to google updates, I am not sure what longer works!

Do directory, article, press releases, bookmarks still work? Also, if you have any links to such sites please do let me know.

You have to create high quality articles about different products and add the links of the products of your site in the article. It'll be very helpful and profitable. Web2.0 not works very efficiently and on its peak. You have to create backlinks to get ranking.

You should create more backlinks in eCommerce related site and try to get real and unique traffic to the site.

I manage an ecommerce store with 480,000 products. Everything from development to putting stuff in boxes is me. I am a fucking 1 man army at this shit...

Help me out and I will help you:
1. How much product data do you have? (images, descriptions, attributes)
2. Where did you get the data?
3. What have you done with it?
4. Where are you with on page seo? Do you have unique titles, meta descriptions, image alt tags?

Do you have all your products organised in categories? If so, are the categories well laid out with a good amount of choice for the users? Do you have any content on these page? Again, how is onpage seo here?

Can everything be found purely by clicking menu items? You don't want orphan pages which can only be accessed by searching sku numbers or product titles...

Thank you offering to help.. The products have basic descriptions and titles have been optimised for Ebay use. The descriptions are normally short and normally come from suppliers websites. I have picked few products and tried to increase the text to see if it made any difference but I can't say I have noticed. The categories are good and each product assigned to relevant category.

The onpage SEO I am sure could do more work but I am not sure what needs to be done - I have covered the basics such as alt tags, titles could do with adding H1 and H2 tags..

What I really need to know is do, I need to market each product in terms of backlinks or will sending backlinks to the main pages, blog posts etc push the products up in search?

If so any ideas on how to get authoritative site links?

You have to promote your products by using their URLs and place the URLs at different article sites. You can create a lot of good backlinks for best results.
