Dynamic Random Image Alt Text SEO

Thinking outside the box here... I have thousands of related long tail texts for my site. I put all of those into a SQL table and made a PHP function that pulls a random one as alt text. I have 16 images on each page as a gallery and it generates a random alt for each image as well as the thumbnail. They are all niche related, but they change in the background every time the page is rendered. Not sure if this would help or hurt with seo.

Or maybe this is completely useless for good nowadays.

Anybody else had any experience\luck with something similar?

Well I don't see the benefit in this. The whole point of a good automation is to make it seem like manually done. If you had hundreds of pictures and just gave an alt to each and that was all, that was ok. But from the POV of a crawler, crawling a page 10 times and getting the same images with the same metadata but only the alts changed, looks like a bot job.. Am I missing something? Why would it be beneficial?

Unless you are automating the whole content it's pointless and not efficient. Better to definitely optimize the alt keywords per post adjusting to what are you trying to rank for.

Thats why I asked. Was on the fence if it would even be beneficial because it would change on each visit.

What I would love to do is to automate the creation and then have it keep what is assigned. The issue I have doing this is that the PHP query that hits the table is built into the template, so don't have a way to make it save once it creates.
