Hi, hope you're all well.


I've read a lot of info about how duplicating content from a highly ranking website can and cannot help rank your own website.


Can anyone confirm that it is / is not possible to 'piggy-back' someone else's website by simply copying & pasting their content in to your own website?

Forget highly ranking sites. You should not be duplicating content from anywhere if you are putting it up on your money site.
 
you won't get any credit for posting duplicated content. If you ever do it, at least attribute the source by linking back - that way you can share good content on your blog to keep your audience engaged, but you aren't passing it off as your own.
 
Never and I mean never copy content from another site. Get your own!
 
Google frowns on sites with copied content mate. It is possible to copy content from other people's pages but your website will be penalized by google.
 
Duplicate content penalties are common when you have multiple pages of the same content on your one website. Copying content already indexed will not count you as the original source and it doesn't do much for you. Value news website outlets sometimes copy each other and Google shows plenty of lenience towards them since its news.
 
If you are not unique or creative from Google's perspective, your website will not do great and most likely in most cases won't last long either. And everything above pretty much simplifies your answer. Post unique content, and be creative otherwise you're just wasting valuable time.

Links are still the most important part of SEO. Content is important but don't put too much into it.
 
If you're trying to compete for higher ranking, make your content unique with good quality.

Don't copy & paste, it doesn't help you in any way.
 
If you copy and paste the content from another sites you will be penalized. You can rewrite it with your words so it will be unique.
 
Its unethical to copy other people's content. Also, your webpages may not be indexed, and if they do index then may not rank as it will appear under supplementary results.
 
Please,don't try to copy the articles from other sites. It's not a better task. Try to create a new one which is related with your site. If you stole that articles then only you can use them in money making sites. It's not enough to increase your site ranking. So be careful. Such behavior is enough to cut down a better discipline.
