I had to rush and copy by website from one domain to another domain name. After doing so, I noticed that the new domain started showing up in the SERPS, but has now completely disappeared. I've deleted the old domain from my GoDaddy account and I'm awaiting it to formally be "pulled" from the SERPs. I'm assuming that Google saw the new domain as duplicate content and then unlisted it in their SERPs. My question is, now that the old domain is being removed, will the new domain start showing up again or is there something that I need to do to get Google crawling the site again?

you should have kept the old domain for at least 1 year, and redirect it to the new domain via .htaccess
If you lost the old domain I think you are right that google treats the new domain as a copycat of the old one so you lose / lost all rankings and have to wait for google to get rid of the old URLs from their cache (which can take months or years)

I can't keep the old domain for legal reasons. I had to delete it. I understand that it'll take a while to get this new domain back to where the old one was, but are a few things I can do in now, other than onpage SEO, to get it expedited? I've already submitted to 50 citations. This is mostly for Map Pack rankings which I still dominate, but I want to get the organic rankings back. It should be fairly easy as there isn't much competition.
