Hi all,

I checked GWT and found I have 19 duplicate title tags. I'm a total dunce when it comes to this sort of thing, and I find Googles explanations confusing. It's more than likely my reading comprehension that's at fault though.

I should mention I'm using wordpress and the headway theme. I'm also using SEO Yoast, with tags excluded and No index of subpages to show up in search engines, page 2, page 3 etc. As I thought yoast took care of most of this to avoid duplicate content.

So the title duplicates are listed like this (post titles removed):

[TD="colspan: 13"]http://my site.com/post title/post title-2-2/
htxtp://my site.com/post title/post title-2/
htxtp://my site.com/?attachment_id=506/
htxtp://my site.com/?attachment_id=506
htxtp://my site.com/post title/post title-3/
htxtp://my site.com/post title/post title-4/
htxtp://my site.com/post title 3/post title 3-2/
htxtp://my site.com/post title 3/post title 3-3/
htxtp://my site.com/post title-information/
htxtp://my site.com/category/post title-information/
htxtp://my site.com/?attachment_id=513/
htxtp://my site.com/?attachment_id=513

So am I correct in thinking that I simply add these urls to robots.txt, like so:

Disallow: /http://my site.com/post title/post title-2-2/
Disallow: /http://my site.com/?attachment_id=506/
Disallow: /http://my site.com/post title/post title-3/
Disallow: /http://my site.com/post title 3/post title 3-2/
Disallow: /http://my site.com/post title-information/
Disallow: /http://my site.com/category/post title-information/
Disallow: /http://my site.com/?attachment_id=513/ | htxtp://my site.com/?attachment_id=513
etc...

Then just remove the same duplicate tags in wordpress dashboard, post tags?

Would this solve the duplicate title tags problem?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Panther 28.

I'm beginning to think that my robots.txt is a virtual file and only accessible when called upon. I have checked using FTP and I can't find it anywhere. I know it exists, as it's viewable in GWT.

Some plugin must have created it and made changes after I installed security plugins after my site was infected. I'll see if I can track it down that way.
