Duplicate meta description text onto actual page?

Hi, quick question - I have a shop with products, to make it faster to build I just cloned the product and updated the images and title but the products do not have descriptions. I'm currently writing descriptive titles and meta descriptions, and wondered will it help or hinder (or neither) if I put the descriptions on the page for visitors to read?
It won't make a major difference to a visitor - it's more the photos they want to see than read what they're seeing in the picture (think stock photography shop)
Thoughts?
