So I've read other threads and basically if I wanted to rank a new blog site, avoid duplicate content. When I saw one ranking on 1st page, I did a copyscape check and also did manual phrase checks and it looks like there's at least 10 other sites using the same content. Question is,

1. how much percentage wise would it need to be re-written or spun.
2. Is it even worse, collecting from multiple sites and pasting it as one article for a single topic?
3. Does changing the published date "trick" google?
