Duplicate content question

With the recent changes in Google in regards to them not liking duplicate content. I'm wondering if I will be affected if I provide articles for my affiliates to use and they don't spin it (which I presume will be the majority of cases). Will this come back on the quality of my site in any way (SEO etc) if I have a lot of people using the same article and linking back to my site even if it is through an affiliate link? I presume Google might be picking up on this aspect of duplicate content as well, if not already, then at some point as a lot of product owners provide affiliates with articles that they can use and it is resulting in a lot of duplicated content on the Internet.

Thoughts are appreciated on this topic, and I don't want to devalue my website by providing content that I know will be duplicated on the Internet by affiliates.

Hi,

I have a similar questiont to yours. Would love to hear what others opinion is on this! :)

@appliedscience

i recommend you spin them yourself and after that give them.
besides this, the juice for the content will be received by the first poster of the content.

If you're worried about having duplicate content, you might want to try getting rid of the extra content and add other things that Google looks for: images, videos, RSS feeds, links, backlinks, blogs, comment section, etc.

Hope this helps!

I wouldn't say it could be detrimental. Look at how many big sites have their content copies and reposted over and over and over again.

Provide your affiliates with different articles to use from what you use on your own site (you can get 100 for like $3 each so not a big investment)

Add to TOS that affiliates may not copy ANY content from product site or will be banned from program.

Finally, don't worry if 1mil affiliates all use same articles to promote you prod without spinning, isn't your concern, is theirs.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will put together a good range of articles my affiliates can use, but I won't use them on my website, I don't ind suggesting to affiliates that they spin the article, but in some instances I don't want a good article turning into a really poor quality one because affiliates pay no attention to the end quality as much as they do making the article 'original'.

There are, but with the Google update this could become an issue. I don't know how Google is going to find the original posting of an article... but I don't want my website being frowned upon because of duplicate content.

Does anyone know if an affiliate link (which directs to the vendors website) is counted in anyway by Google, not as a backlink for SEO, but in regards to how Google see's the quality of the website? An affiliate link is a re-direct at the end of the day. Would hate for a product website to suffer in the serps because of poor affiliate promotions..
