Hey,

If the content on a main site for example domain.com was copied to another domain with url domain1.com and the duplicate domain domain1.com had been live for 6 months without knowledge with some of the pages indexed on Google from duplicate domain. How would it affect the rankings on the main site and where can i see if the main site was penalized?

Would it be enough to rewrite the content on main domain? The duplicate content domain was set to noindex on all pages but it had still been up and running for 6 months without knowledge.

Why are you running two blogs with same content ? What is the benefit ?

It depends. If domain2 is very high authority, it might end up capturing your content and your original site might look like the copy. This used to happen all the time a couple years ago, they probably applied some fix, but it's just how indexing works - higher authority sites end up getting crawled faster and more often, and if your content is seen there for the first time, then it's gone.

I'm sure that duplicating content or domains won't do you any good. Better to be unique

You have to go to google search console and request de-index/ temp-deindex(6 months) for pages/post for domain1. It will be de-indexed in few days.

ok, so search console and removals tab i guess? i guess noindex tag on the domain and its pages is the same as removal as well?

Search console will enforce it if you do there, no-index on pages is like a guideline/advisory/request to the google crawler.
