I'm using wordpress software (self hosted) and currently my 'home page' is just a collection of posts, nearly all of them targeting the same main keyword or two. Can this cause duplicate content issues? The same keywords will be used frequently, similar topics will be discussed and there will be overlap.

Unlikely so long as there isn't repeating content within your posts. Google is used to seeing wordpress blogs.

If you're concerned make a page called home and set it as the front page through the wordpress admin.

Duplicate content has to be very nearly an exact duplicate to incur a penalty. When it is an exact duplicate, if you attribute the duplicate content to another source, it will not count against you, so quote your page don't duplicate it.

I could see where you might get into trouble if you were to spin 1 article for all the pages content though.

Not a big issue as long as all your articles are unique.

why would you make all of your posts targeting the same keyword?
Only on post will rank for that keyword and others will be buried in the SERP!

Copyscape is sexy. Find 2 blog posts on your site that are most similar and plug them both in copyscape and see if duplicate content is flagged. If not your good to go. I don't know where you are getting your content from but beware of the new google panda update regarding copyright infringement, I have been warning all my SEO clients that buy content from other 3rd parties or that use cheap spinning methods. Please don't send me a million PM's about it, please google it first.

If copyscape doesn't report any duplicate content, your good to go 99% of the time. Keep in mind that google may have trouble deciding which webpage is more relevant for the duplicate keywords, that's where you want to shape your internal linking, I can recommend a few strategies for such a situation.

Hope this helps you mate :)

Please do, would appreciate it.

There are 2 main keywords I want the site to rank for so I'm mainly targeting them in my articles at the moment. You don't do that?
